Local Bites: Blue Jacket Dairy
Market
regulars always make a stop at Blue Jacket Dairy, where you can find
delicious samples of the dairy’s farmstead and artisan cheeses.
Produced by hand from the milk of the family’s herd of Holsteins in
Logan County, Blue Jacket Dairy is dedicated to providing unique and
delicious handcrafted cheeses.
Because owners Jim and Angel
King guide every step of the process by hand, from the care, management
and milking of their herd of Holsteins to the crafting of each cheese,
quality is never left to chance. Best of all, their cheese-making
enterprise keeps their Ohio family farm healthy and sustainable for
theirs and future generations of the King family. |

and Angel King's daughter, Katie, displays their cheeses |
Blue
Jacket Dairy brings many of their most popular cheeses to each market.
On your next visit, pick up an old favorite or try something new! Below
is a sample of what you might find:
- Gretna Grillin’: a
delicious, buttery halloumi-style cheese that doesn’t melt, making it
perfect for grilling or pan-frying, where it will form a delicious
golden crust.
- Fresh Cheese Curd: Small, irregular-shaped
curds of salty cheese perfect for snacking! Available in three flavors:
plain, dill and ranch.
- Chevre: a recent addition, each variety
of Blue Jacket chevre is made by hand from goat’s milk purchased from
local goat farmers in their area.
- Quark: a mild and creamy cheese than can be
used in place of ricotta, cream cheese or yogurt.
